cmux is a terminal for people running many AI coding agents at once. Its site listed what it does. As an independent concept, I redesigned and rebuilt it to show it.

Problem

cmux.com described a visual product in ten bullet points, with the product itself below the fold.

Insight

For a developer tool, watching it work is the pitch.

What I did

Redesigned and built the page: a product-first hero, four features shown in motion, and proof right under the hero.

Result

An independent concept, built and deployed at cmux-redesign.vercel.app. Not commissioned or adopted by cmux.

01 / The problem

A great product, described in bullets.

The first screen was a logo, a headline and ten equal-weight bullet points. The product itself only showed up below the fold.

Everything had equal weightTen bullets, one style. Nothing told a new visitor where to look first.

02 / Decisions

Three moves, one idea.

Every move answers the same question a new visitor has: what does this actually do for me?

01 · Lead

Open on the product

The hero is my real cmux session: an agent editing code on the left, the result in the built-in browser on the right.

Developers trust what they can see running more than any headline.

02 · Organize

One question, four answers

Every feature answers “what needs my attention right now?”, and each one plays its own clip instead of a sentence.

A single question turns a list of ten features into a story you can follow.

03 · Trust

Proof where the doubt is

Stars, license and every coding agent cmux works with sit right under the hero.

They answer “is this legit, and will it work with my agent?” before anyone scrolls.

What I’d test next.

Does showing beat telling?A/B the product-first hero against the list, measured on Download clicks.
Is the mono headline too loud?It sets the tone, but skimmers may read a sans headline faster. Worth a five-second test.
Talk to the teamA concept is a starting point. The next step is hearing what cmux knows about its visitors that I don’t.
